September 2014

September 29th – 6:00pm – Three beavers were seen at the Ward Street site. There was a report of someone seeing five beavers down at the secondary dam, including the kit, a few days before. Seems like they are moving between Ward Street and the secondary dam. HP, JR

September 26th – 6:00pm – It was a very slow beaver night. Two beavers were seen down by the secondary dam. One beaver did some work on the dam and also climbed up the bank to get some berry branches. The other beaver was seen swimming down from the primary dam and he spent some time near the secondary. September 20th – 6:00pm – Five beavers were seen last night between the two dams. One came down from the primary dam, one was swimming around in the primarypond, one had beem sleeping at the secondary dam before coming out and dad, kit and a yearling were at Ward Street. There was a very low tide. HP, JR

September 17th – 6:00pm – 8:00pm – What a great beaver night. The whole family of six, were seen during the evening. The first beaver to be seen was coming up from below the secondary at 6:00pm. Another two were seen at the secondary and one of those beavers climbed the wall by the dam to get to some brambles. Three beavers (including the kit) were seen down by Ward Street. They were filmed navigating the dry spot near Starbucks. During all this beaver activity, a Kingfisher was hunting and diving below the Marina Vista Bridge. HP, JR, CR

September 10th – 4:45am – An adult beaver was seen coming down from the primary dam and a yearling was seen coming up from the secondary dam early this morning. JR

September 5th – 6:30pm-7:00pm – The secondary and third dam were covered by the high tide we had last night . One beaver was seen down below the third dam swimming up creek. It stopped around the third dam and hung out there. That was the only beaver seen during the short time down at the dams. JO
