January 2012

January 29th 6:15 am – 2 beavers swimming around filter above primary dam.

January 28th, 5:30am – beaver at work on primary dam.

January6 26nd – 3pm pied billed grebe seen above primary dam.

January 21st – Hard rains hit the beaver dams but one brave green heron made a meal on misfortune. The fish catch was later identified by Rob Leidy of the EPA as a Sacramento splittail, a critically listed native fish.

January1 18th – 5:30AM – One brave beaver watcher was out this very cold morning and spotted one big beaver. The beaver was seen going down stream and over the secondary dam. It crossed over where the gap used to be, which was a climb, instead of using the area where the city removed some of the dam. It did look like some work has begun on repairing the dam.JR

January 14th – Early morning – It was reported that two beavers were seen feeding about the footbridge and one beaver was seen up in the annex area. Also spotted was a beautiful night heron.HP
