Because the beaver isn't just an animal; it's an ecosystem!

November 2012

November 18th – 5:00pm – We didn’t have to wait too long before we had a beaver sighting. Jr. was out right away. We also saw a night heron, that flew in and settled in a tree.HP, JR, JO and a delightful Irish family

November 11th – 5:00pm – Jr. and another beaver were out and about near the secondary dam.HP, JR

November 8th – 6:50pm – Jr. was the first beaver out and he came down from the primary dam. He found some carrots on the secondary dam and sat on the dam while eating. Another beaver came down to the secondary dam and sniffed the carrots while Jr. got a branch of cottonwood. The larger beaver followed closely behind Jr. and then Jr. started swimming faster and ducked into the bank hole with his prize. The other beaver drove down and gave up the chase.HP, JR

November 7th – 5:00pm-6:30pm – Members of Worth A Dam gathered at the footbridge in remembrance of the 5th anniversary of the Martinez beaver meeting, that changed how Martinez was going to deal with the beavers. Jr. was the first one to come out near the secondary dam. He came out several times swimming back and forth between the bank lodge and the secondary dam. Another beaver was spotted also checking out the dam and swimming around for some time. Soon another beaver came down from up stream and was out for awhile. It was a pleasant beaver sighting night but cold. HP, JR, CR, JO, LB and a friend with his dog.

November 4th – 6:50am (5:50) – An adult beaver was seen crossing over the secondary dam at 6:50am really 5:50am and Jr. was spotted swimming around by the footbridge at 7:20am. Welcome to day light savings time. It will be a while before we all figure out the best beaver sighting times.HP, JR
