Because the beaver isn't just an animal; it's an ecosystem!

October 2012

October 23rd – 5:00am – Two beavers were seen down in the annex area this morning.JR

October 19th – 7:20pm – Jr. finally came out along with another bigger beaver. This beaver looked larger than mom but was not dad so wonder if we still have one of the 2010 kits still around. If so, that would mean we have four beavers.JR, HP

October 18th – early am – Mom was spotted working on the secondary dam and JR was seen swimming up from way downstream.JR

October 14th – 5:00am – Two early beaver watchers were out and saw two adult beavers near the footbridge. In the evening around 6:15, Jr. was seen coming out of the bank lodge and swimming around near the footbridge.JR,MS

October 10 – 6:00pm – Worth A Dam members met down at the dam site to show our special guests from New York, the Martinez beavers. They first checked out the primary dam before moving on to the secondary dam. Jr. was the fist beaver to make an appearance. He spent time swimming back and forth under the bridge, which made everyone move back and forth to catch glimpses of him. He made several trips to the secondary dam. He also found some willow that he took back to the bank hole. Mom beaver came out and also spent time down near the secondary dam. Jr. then crossed over the dam but crossed right back over. It was a very pleasant beaver sighting night and our guests were very satisfied as they were able to get some nice pictures. HP, JR, CR, JO, LB

October 9th – 7:00pm – The beaver that we think is mom, came out first near the secondary dam. She checked out the dam several times. Jr. came out from the side bank hole and took some willow back into the bank. Dad came from way up stream and slowly made his way to the secondary dam.

October 1st – evening – Worth A Dam received an e-mail letting us know that the kit was seen near the footbridge last night and also an adult beaver was also spotted. An otter popped up it’s head about 8 feet from the kit as they were by the footbridge and popped back down before its picture could be taken. Thanks so much for letting us know.
